Prototype: Deep Space Forensics   August 17th, 2009 by 31eee384

Description: In a really weird way I combined my last two things (Flash Light and PlatformEngine) into a new game idea. Set in deep space, you pilot a forensics vessel into deep space ship wrecks to find out what went wrong. This ship is heavily armored to prevent accidental depressurization and equipped with powerful retro rockets to make it possible to move nearly anything blocking the pilot’s craft. A powerful computer is also on board, to record findings, monitor the craft, and provide a stable flying environment by compensating for fluctuations in gravity and maintaining a top speed relative to the derelict the pilot is exploring. The main tool that is specific to the craft is the grappler, a device that can render a target’s relative velocity to zero, and essentially links the craft to the target. It’s very short-range however, and that is why it can be effectively used in this application. For visibility purposes, the ship is also equipped with self-powered lighting. (That’s where the Flash Light prototype comes in.)

Just go here to play a prototype. Instructions are in-game, but you may need to move the mouse a bit to see them.
